The multi-million dollar refurbishment of the Winning Appliances Redfern showroom in Sydney was officially launched last night with local and international appliance industry executives describing it as among the best appliance retailers in the world.
The showroom has been transformed from a 1,100 square-metre store featuring over 50 brands to a new format with just 20 separately branded areas over two levels. Each brand’s installation features premium exhibition-quality cabinetry and fit outs, which led to some guests describing the layout resembling the equivalent of the top appliance exhibitions – Eurocucina or IFA.
The fourth generation kitchen and laundry retailing business, now run by Winning Group CEO John Winning, continues to reflect strong family values. This was further reinforced by the unveiling of new company branding last night, representing the signature of John Winning’s great-grandfather, R.W. Winning, from when he started the business in 1906.
Over 300 people attended the event last night, including Winning Appliances staff members, as well as numerous suppliers, architects, and retailers from Sydney, other parts of Australia and Europe and Asia.
“This is the best execution of upmarket appliances I have personally seen in the world,” said Smeg Australia managing director Andrew Cronin who was joined by the global CEO of Smeg, Vittorio Bertazzoni.
“It is a benchmark for the industry and it will be difficult for others to follow based on the joint investment required for the retailer and the supplier, as well as the footprint to showcase appliances in this way,” said Bosch national sales manager, Mark Tragear.
Winning Group CEO John Winning and Winning Appliances CEO David Crane were joined at the event by a number of members from the Narta buying group head office including Kay Spencer, Darren Spencer and Tanya Mudge as well as Narta retailers Nick Kirby from KHQ in Perth, Con Tsoutouras from Spartan Electrical in Adelaide and Rob Sinclair from E&S Trading in Victoria.
