Home Show still a hit for Camberwell after 25 years

After a successful weekend at the Melbourne Home Show for the 25th year, Hans Vanderstadt from Camberwell Electrics is ready to engage with visitors who will be coming to his door to find out more about the products that were on display, or who are ready to buy, after just browsing at the Show. The retailer partnered with several brands including premium Swiss appliance market leader V-Zug, German brand Liebbher, Jura, and Daikin, among others.

Dick Smith grows but investors not too happy

Dick Smith Holdings has been hammered by the sharemarket with shares falling to a record low of $1.65, before closing down 16.5% at $1.67 yesterday. Analysts have attributed the fall to the company’s decision to stop discounting Apple products, a significant driver of sales over several years and to soft sharemarket conditions.

Rocks Aroma brews awards and winners

The winners of the Aroma Cup awards from The Aroma Festival are Fine Food Store which picked up the Industry Choice award while the People’s Choice went to Playfair Café for the third year running. By casting a vote in the People’s Choice competition, Therese Leuvert from Elizabeth Bay took home $3,000 worth of prizes, including a Breville Oracle espresso machine.

Olympus recalls camera due to shock risk

Olympus has issued its first recall on a product for its VG-170 compact digital camera because its body may emit a mild electric shock during use, when operating the zoom lever or shutter button. Due to this mild shock, consumers may experience slight numbness in their fingertips.

How JB grew sales by 4.8%

The telco and fitness categories were strong performers in FY15 for JB Hi-Fi thanks to the Apple iPhone 6 and FitBit activity trackers, according to CEO Richard Murray. The small business tax incentive was a huge contributor to sales in these categories and the overall 4.8% growth in the company’s total sales. The computer, IT and home appliance category also performed well, while online sales skyrocketed by 16.9% for JB Hi-Fi (JB).

Betta stays in the lead for customer satisfaction

Betta Electrical has shown its muscle with another win in the Furniture/Electrical Store category in the Roy Morgan Research Customer Satisfaction Awards for the third consecutive month with a 95% satisfaction rating. JB Hi-Fi, which took the lead in January and February, has slipped to second place with a 91% satisfaction rating.
