Twitter has become one of most popular ways to get your message out to the world and many businesses, retailers and media organisations are getting behind the service. But does that fact that you can now buy friends defeat the services purpose?

uSocial.net launched a new service last week that allows Twitter users to purchase packages of followers if they are having trouble attaining them on their own.

Packages range from 1,000 to 100,000 instant followers and the company CEO Leon Hill, commented that the services has seen a massive response.

“It was obvious people had been looking for a service like this for some time as the day we launched we actually had to start turning people away before close of business,” he said.

“It was a shock, but within a couple of days we revamped our systems to ensure we could handle the workload.”

This service is a great way to achieve instant popularity on the social network and Hill commented that it has a wide range of adopters.

“We’ve had everyone from churches and automotive blogs, to fortune 500 companies express interest and invest in our services.”

But the service highlights that Twitter can be abused very easily by companies and uSocial.net even highlighted Twitter’s vulnerability, when it publically slammed radio personalities Kyle and Jackie O for creating thousands of followers with false accounts.

But regardless of how you achieve followers, Twitter is a great tool to get your message out there and it seems everyone is getting on board with the latest trend in social media.
