SodaStream caught in revenue slide
Third-quarter profit for SodaStream International has sank to 76% and revenue has fallen below analysts’ expectations, as the company continues to work through a restructuring. Vipac upsets air-con suppliers who push back
A recent report from Vipac on energy efficiency for air-conditioning units, which stated that manufacturers are misleading consumers by making biased claims on their labels has caused one leading supplier, Fujitsu General express concern. In a statement to Appliance Retailer Fujitsu General has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Government’s Energy Rating Label scheme.
Vipac has since responded with a reassurance to manufacturers that the findings aimed to encourage the development of more accurate testing technologies and methodology rather than discredit the important role they play.
Samsung “resolves” 62% potentially fatal washers
Samsung says that it has successfully “resolved” 62% of the units in the ongoing product safety recall for six models of its top loader washing machines. This information has been provided to NSW Fair Trading as part of its ongoing compliance with the notice issued under section 22 of the Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2004 (NSW). It said it continued to advertise the controversial recall, however this still does not include television.
Euro purchasing power grows by 4%
Germany, France, Italy and the UK, make up almost 60% of Europe’s purchasing power, which increased by approximately 4.2% per-capita compared to last year, according to a recent GfK study. A total of approximately €9.13 trillion ($13.97 trillion) is available to European consumers in 2015 for spending and saving, equating to an average per-capita purchasing power of €13,636 ($20,863) for the 42 countries under review from GfK.

Nespresso grinds Sudan’s beans for good

Myer confident for good returns in 2017
In its stylish 2015 Annual Report, Myer chairman Paul McClintock (pictured) said that 2016 would be a transition year as the company invested between $100 million and $120 million to underpin future growth. However, Myer expects to return to sustainable profit growth in 2017.
