Laser has unveiled the second-generation range of Connect SmartHome devices with new options in security, lighting, gardening, and power, as part of its commitment to make easy DIY smart home products more affordable for Australians.

In early 2020, Connect SmartHome became the first smart home brand to offer $10 smart light bulbs – a move that the brand claims saw it become Harvey Norman’s number one selling smart home offering.

The light globe range has expanded into energy efficient and environmentally friendly vintage style filament lights for sub $30 and is joined by new fairy lights with various colours, brightness levels and lightning modes for sub $100, and neon strip lighting with 240 lumens of brightness and a lifetime of 25,000 hours for sub $200.

Another new addition to the range is the Smart Outdoor 1080P Camera with Solar Panel for sub $200 featuring a waterproof design, night vision, motion detection and three-metre cable connecting the panel and camera. The outdoor camera range is rounded out by the Smart Wire-free Full HD security camera for RRP $149.95 and Wireless Outdoor Camera with Adjustable Floodlight and Solar Panel for $349.95. For inside the home, there are two Smart Indoor Cameras, one with a static design for RRP $59.95, and another with a pan and tilt design for $79.95.

Other highlights include an updated Video Doorbell with two-way audio and alerts sent via the free app for RRP $149.95, the Smart Deadbolt with fingerprint ID and four unique access methods (passcode, fingerprint, smart card and physical key) for RRP $249.95, and a new wireless solar panel powered water controller that can regulate garden watering based on timings or weather patterns for RRP $179.95.

Any appliance or device can be made smart with the Connect Smart Power options. With the power board, each socket can be remotely and independently controlled for RRP $49.95 and the new smart Wi-Fi plug with dual USB ports now comes with power monitoring and energy saving features for $19.95.

Laser managing director and head of Connect SmartHome, Chris Lau said Australians have voted with their wallets and shown they are more comfortable with smart lighting, security and power than ever before.

“They have also shown how price sensitive they are, which makes sense in this economic climate and given the number of smart devices they are seeking for their home at any one time. With our second generation range, we are expanding into areas that people may have not thought could be smart, or otherwise previously come with a high price tag… We remain committed to driving the category in delivering affordability and accessibility.”

The Connect SmartHome is compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa to control the devices via voice command. Products can also be controlled via the Connect SmartHome app.

It is Google-licensed and fully compliant with Australian standards and regulations, offering replacement warranty and local customer support.
