Nineteen (19) appliances from 10 brands have been awarded ‘Good Design Selection’ and will progress to the final stage of the 2014 Good Design Awards program. These models, ranging from high-end downdraft ventilators to the humble steam iron, are essentially the nominees for the Domestic Appliance category, with the final selections and ultimate Best in Category winner announced in Sydney on Wednesday 28 May 2014.
Electrolux leads the way with four of its seven entries being recognised, ahead of Kenwood and Dyson with three each. Appliance Retailer’s 2013 Appliance of the Year, Breville’s the Oracle was among the finalists, as were two sinks from Shriro’s Blanco brand.

Among the brands that have missed out on a Good Design Selection honour are Nespresso, Sunbeam, Philips, Bissell, SodaStream, Euromaid and VS Sassoon.
The winners will be revealed at a gala presentation in Sydney on Wednesday 28 May 2014. Selected products will also be showcased to the public in a special curation between 23 May and 9 June 2014 (the Award organisers say these showcase dates are subject to change).
