Good Design Australia has revealed plans for its inaugural public product showcase for entrants into the 2014 Good Design Awards. Called the Good Design Selection and held in the weeks before and after the Awards presentation, this new concept will be staged in Martin Place, in Sydney, as will be free to the public.

“The 2014 Good Design Selection is an outdoor exhibition featuring the best in cutting-edge design and innovation from Australia and the world in Sydney’s popular Martin Place,” the organisers said. “This is the first exhibition of its kind in Australia and will showcase the latest in product design across 15 main categories.”

The showcase will be during the Vivid Sydney festival, which is now closely aligned with the Good Design Awards, so it will be open during a period of high tourism into Sydney from design-minded individuals.

Representatives from Good Design Australia said the Good Design Selection will include “everything from the latest domestic products, consumer electronics, medical equipment, sporting products, toys, business and industrial equipment, fashion accessories and everything in-between”.

As earlier revealed by Appliance Retailer, the 2014 Good Design Awards have again attracted a significant number of entries in the Appliances and Consumer Electronics categories.

The 2014 Good Design Selection will run 23 May to 9 June 2014 in Martin Place, in Sydney’s CBD, and will be free to the public.
