Ironing is not necessarily one of the most glamorous of tasks, but Morphy Richards must be commended for attempting to rebrand the humble iron with a more adventurous image.
Off the back of the company’s recent Iron Man campaign (which saw Morphy Richards partner with Iron Man Ali Day to promote its range of ironing and garment care products) the brand has announced a new showcase event to continue the'action-packed-sports/ironing association.
The Morphy Richards Ultimate Iron-Off is taking place in Wollongong tomorrow, and will see six star athletes complete a variety of ironing tasks across different heats (no pun intended), before a final iron champion is declared.

Alongside Morphy Richards’ spokes-athlete Ali Day, the event will also be attended by swimmer David McKeon, Australian triathletes Shane Barrie and Aaron Royle, world-champion track runner Ryan Gregson and high jumper Petrina Price.
Through their efforts (which will include involvement from audience members), the athletes will help to promote the brand's ComfiGrip Iron range. Morphy Richards will also be giving away a range of prizes, including six Shirtmaster Ironing boards and six ComfiGrip Irons.
The event will run between 12 and 2pm tomorrow, 24 February, in Wollongong’s Crown Street Mall, with local radio, newspapers and Win Television crews due to attend.
The Morphy Richards Iron-Off will see six pro athletes compete for the title of best ironer.
