Whirlpool Australia has announced that all refrigeration and laundry products under the Whirlpool brand will face price rises as of 1 April 2009.

The increase comes on the back of the recent economic turmoil and the lower value of the US dollar.

Whirlpool has emphasised that this increase will only affect its refrigeration and laundry products. The prices of the cooking and dishwasher categories, as well as the Maytag brand, will remain unchanged.

Emerson Valle, vice president of Whirlpool Oceania (Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands) said “the recent devaluation and volatility of the US dollar has now unfortunately made a price increase unavoidable for the refrigeration and laundry categories”.

“Whirlpool Australia is continuing to re-engineer its supply chain and the value benefits of this project will be communicated to and realised by our trade partners shortly,” he continued.

Whirlpool has not confirmed the official price change figures as of yet, but has commented that they will be issued to trade partners and customers in the next few days.
