After a lacklustre week for the New Zealand-based major appliance company, Fisher & Paykel has received some good news by winning the GfK Number One Awards 2008 in two of its product categories.

In a week that has seen the company announce lower than expected net profit and sales revenue, not to mention the fact that it is keenly seeking possible investors and equity capital raising from existing shareholders and there is talk of a government bailout, this news is a breath of fresh air.

Members of the Fisher & Paykel team were honoured to receive the award for their dishwasher and washing machine range, both categories have consistently performed well for many years.

“We are once again delighted to have won the GfK Number One award in both these categories, this is the third year Fisher and Paykel has been top dishwashing brand and we are extremely pleased with the outcome,”  said Fisher and Paykel national marketing manager, Peter Russell.

The GfK Number One Awards have been running for the past four years and the results are based on unit sales for the period from January to December 2008, in various categories across the Asia Pacific region. To receive the award, the brand must be in general distribution in the country to which the award relates and also be the clear number one in unit sales over the relevant time period.
