SYDNEY, NSW: The nationwide electronics retailer that promotes itself as ‘The name you can trust’ has been forced to promise the Federal Court that it will not make false representations about the statutory warranty rights of consumers. MSY Technology also faces covering costs for the debacle.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) instituted legal proceedings against MSY Technology earlier this month for the distribution of promotional materials with allegedly false warranty statements.

The company operates in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia and sells computers, computer parts, electronic goods and software to consumers.

The manager of the head office in Clayton, Melbourne, was unavailable to speak with Current.com.au.

The ACCC is now seeking final court orders, corrective notices, costs and orders for MSY and its related companies to implement a trade practices compliance program.
