Smeg Australia has hosted an exclusive event at its Melbourne showroom to showcase the latest coffee innovations from Smeg and La Pavoni brands to key retail and coffee specialist partners.

The event coincided with Melbourne Coffee Week, which was seen as a great opportunity to bring to life the Smeg and La Pavoni coffee machine offerings, according to Smeg general manager – professional division, Leon Wolf.

“We’d like to thank you for coming and welcome you into our home to see and experience our Smeg and La Pavoni machines – some already available in-market and others that are yet to launch,” Wolf said.

“We’re showcasing our new platform of La Pavoni domestic coffee machines, including our new Cellini Mini and Cellini Classic, both available in stainless steel or matt black, in response to the black colour trend in the market. We’re also launching our Cellini Collezione with new toggle controls instead of taps for steam and water, and our new Botticelli range with a new design aesthetic, PID, group head and magnetic filter tray.

“We wanted to show our complete coffee range from entry to premium as more people move from ‘set and forget’ machines to wanting a full café experience to become their own home barista, which is where La Pavoni fits into the picture because the range is only available in selected retailers and specialist coffee outlets.

“We’re also excited to showcase our first domestic coffee machine made in the Smeg factory in Italy (pictured above left). In the future, we want to produce as many of our small appliances as possible in Italy and bring manufacturing back in-house because our technology and people are a priority.”

Smeg national manager – small domestic appliances, Arthur Banbas said the event was also an opportunity to demonstrate the breadth of the Smeg brand.

“Smeg is often associated with our cooking products and our small appliance collection, but there’s more to Smeg beyond cooking and smalls,” he said.

“We’re on a journey in the coffee category as consumers who drink instant or capsule coffee mature and look for a better product. For Smeg and La Pavoni, we have a coffee machine for every type of consumer.

“Coffee is a huge focus for Smeg because we can now take the consumer on a journey from a manual pump machine like our ECF01 to a more professional pump machine, like our new EGF03, and then up to our bean to cup machine with the second generation launching in Q1 2024.

“The EGF03 with built-in conical burr grinder is a key launch for Smeg because consumers who already own a Smeg kettle and toaster have been asking for a more premium coffee machine as they expand their range.

“The ECF02 coffee machine, now made in Italy, is sleeker and sexier, with a redesigned Panarello steam wand and new settings for temperature variations. For Smeg, drip coffee continues to be popular and our milk frother, which can also be used for hot chocolate or soup, is also in demand.

“To capitalise on this event and International Coffee Day on 1 October, we will turn the entire month of October into an International Smeg Coffee Month with consumer promotions, including gift-with-purchase, across our coffee machine range. “

“The Emerald Green range has a brushed metal finish on the front for a more industrial look, while still incorporating colour. The range will include our bean to cup coffee machine, kettle, two-slice toaster and a new semi-professional blender with vacuum seal accessory to better retain nutrients.”
