Following the recent launch of its Digital Slim DC44 Animal Handstick vacuum cleaner, which was shown off to industry leaders around the world at Berlin’s IFA trade show, Dyson has launched a new accessory to add to its floorcare line-up.

The Dyson Tangle-Free Turbine Tool is designed to attached to any Dyson vacuum from the DC19 onwards (not including the DC24 or cordless models), the turbine promises to pick up hair effectively from hard or carpeted floors, without tangling in the head of machine or in the brushes.

The founder and figurehead of Dyson explained the technology.

“We put as much into developing our tools as we do our vacuum cleaners,” said James Dyson. “After the Groom tool, the engineers were tasked with getting rid of another hairy problem.

We found that rubbing hair in a circular motion and causing it to clump allowed for easy removal, so we replaced the brushbar in the turbine head with two counter-rotating paddles – improving the performance of our machines.”

There are two flexible plastic paddles inside the Turbine tool which feature integrated brushes designed to get into corners in order to dislodge and pick up hair and dirt from tight places such as corners and stairs.

The Dyson Tangle-Free Turbine Tool will be available from early 2013 for RRP $79, and will join a suite of accessories in the Dyson range that represent a good up-sell for retailers.
