Having already unveiled Australia’s fastest dishwasher, Smeg has today launched its first Smart Oven, cementing its position as an appliance technology pioneer.

Controlled by an LED touchscreen running Smeg’s S-Logic interface, the Linear SFPA140 multifunction oven has one-touch control for pre-set recipes, temperatures, cooking functions, pyrolytic cleaning, power saving and timing.

Although assembled in Italy, the SFPA140 has been configured to Australian culinary tastes. For example, local fish varieties have been included in the menus and the oven understands Australian definitions of rare, medium and well-done.

“The Smeg brand is renowned for its pioneering of the latest technology but never at the expense of food taste and experience,” said Smeg Australia MD Andrew Cronin. “Our reputation is for technological innovation but it has to generate a quantifiable improvement to the user’s experience.

“Our passion is food — so everything we do must contribute to the best possible cooking results, irrespective of the user’s culinary credentials.

“We believe the new S-Logic technology in the SFPA140 will deliver delicious success time after time to even the most reluctant cook.”

The SFPA140 has a capacity of 79 gross litres and Thermoseal technology so humidity can be controlled via Venturi control system.

“This Venturi system ensures a perfectly controlled cooking environment with minimal temperature fluctuations, where cooking times and temperatures are kept to a minimum and natural juices and flavours are retained,” explained Cronin.

“Some of the cooking functions worth mentioning are the low temperature options, perfect for lovers of slow cooking; rotisserie; and eco baking.

“On a conservation note, this oven is rated as exceeding the highest European A class energy rating by 20 per cent.”

Further features of the oven include memory space for 10 user recipes, an eco-cleaning function and quadruple-glazed doors. It will be available for RRP $3,990 in Smeg’s Linear style of Stopsol silver glass and stainless steel.
