Miele has launched two new ranges of cooktops both with design features to eeasily accommodate oversized pots and pans and reduce the risk of accidents in the kitchen.

The Miele KM 30xx Series Gas Cooktops, available in three or five burner configurations, feature flush cast iron trivets that allow for pots to be slid from one burner to another without being lifted, removing the risk of spilling hot contents in heavy pans.

In a Miele first, the trivets are also dishwasher proof for easy cleaning.

The safety features have also been souped up on selected models, with a residual heat indicator, a system lock to prevent unauthorised use and a rapid switch-off function that turns off all gas rings and extinguishes flames at the push of a button. There is also an electronic re-ignition if a flame is unexpectedly extinguished.

The Miele PowerFlex induction cooktops feature at least two PowerFlex rings on each hob that can be combined to provide a larger cooking zone to evenly heat up the base of oversized pots and pans. Miele have engineered the cooktops to have virtually gap-free Induction coils below the ceramic screen, allowing for rapid heating across multiple zones.

The induction cooktop also remembers things for you if you get distracted during cooking. The ‘Stop & Go’ function reduces the power output to the lowest simmer setting in all cooking zones simultaneously to prevent the burning or sticking of unwatched food, and on return, the ‘Go’ function restores the selected heat settings.

The PowerFlex cooktops are available on hob units of different sizes, from 60cm to 90cm, with a variety of configurations and also include a minute minder to program cooking duration, as well as a switch-off timer to automatically deactivate the cooktop after a maximum number of operating hours.

Select PowerFlex models can be installed with Miele’s ‘Con@ctivity’ technology, which shares information from the cooktop to the rangehood, automatically activating the optimum lighting and fan setting on the rangehood to match the power selected on the cooktop.
