Senior appliance executive moves on after GE deal cancelled.

Electrolux Home Products’ (EHP) director – product and brand marketing, Lambro Skropidis resigned suddenly from the company last Friday after only four months in the job.

An official statement from EHP would only say that Skropidis left to pursue opportunities outside the company. However, Appliance Retailer understands that Skropidis was not an “appropriate cultural fit with the company” and that his departure “was by mutual agreement”.

Skropidis had spent the last seven years working for the two Korean giants, LG and Samsung. Both these companies are presently under siege for their faulty products, Samsung with its massive washer recall and now LG for making misleading statements relating to consumer guarantees on faulty products (see story above).

Until September this year Skropidis was marketing general manager with LG.

It also seems that Skropidis may have been expecting to run the GE marketing business in Australia pending its proposed sale to Electrolux. But GE called off that deal last week and Electrolux paid GE a US$175 million termination fee yesterday.
