2012 looks set to be a strong year for heating appliances in retail, with a range of new designs and form factors to bring a point of difference to shop floors. While traditional seasonal products will still be seen in stores – including oil column, gas and fan heaters – suppliers are also bringing a touch of innovation to the category.

Current.com.au previously reported on the arrival to market of the Dyson Hot + Cool (AM04, RRP $549, pictured below), which utilises the brand’s proprietary air multiplier technology to accelerate hot air through the home. According to Dyson ANZ managing director, Ed Culley, this new model is sure to bring consumers into stores.

"From previous experience, we know an injection of new technology, with better functionality and unique design, can deliver significant category growth," Culley said. "We anticipate similiar growth within the heating category."

In addition, Everdure is set to launch a modernised version of the portable heater – the E-Cubo Ceramic Fan Heater (RRP $159). The E-Cubo features an Aleta heating element that creates a larger surface area to generate more heat, but like the Hot + Cool, it also acts as a fan so it can be used year round. The appliance also comes with a LCD touch remote.

Finally, Seeley International is updating its Convair Prestigio Convection Panel Heater range with a new look. In addition to the black and white models that are already available in stores, the manufacturer has released a new mirror finish glass-fronted model, which features a 2000-watt output, three heat settings and a remote control with timer.

Speaking about the new model, the eponymous chairman of the company Frank Seeley said the new appliance was designed to meet the desires of consumers.

“There is customer demand for highly functional and effective heating products, which look great and are in tune with modern home decor,” he said. “Convair Prestigio heaters are bridging this gap.”
