On the back of another strong year.

Jura has reported revenue totalling CHF 515.9 million (A$731 million) for 2018 – breaking the half-billion mark for the first time – an increase of 7.5% compared to the previous year. There were 380,000 Jura automatic speciality coffee machines sold – 14,000 more than in 2017, corresponding to an increase of 3.8%.

Australia was one of the key growth markets for Jura in 2018 and managing director, George Liakatos (pictured) told Appliance Retailer that local revenue grew by over 12% year-on-year on the back of another strong growth year.

“Our premium coffee machine ranges have been very successful. In particular, the S8 has been our most successful machine in unit and revenue terms last year. Our new Premium POS displays have also been positively received. There have been 9 displays rolled out Australia-wide to date, and we expect to see a further 15 rolled out this year. These displays not only support the Jura brand in store, but they lift the entire coffee category for our retail partners.

“Our Jura Live service has also been a success and since its integration with our Premium POS displays, calls have increased substantially. Further, our Jura Operating Experience (J.O.E.) app was first introduced late last year and is now compatible with all of our premium coffee machine models with Smart Connect functionality available on all new Jura machines.

“I am extremely excited for 2019 with our rich pipeline and so much innovation not only in product but also service. We look forward to working with our retail partners and giving them even more confidence in our premium offering.”

Jura CEO Emanuel Probst explained the results at a recent press conference at the company’s headquarters.

“In the domestic segment, growth was fuelled by the launch of the new ENA 8 and by our extremely popular S8 model while, in the professional segment, the global market launch of the new X8 played a key role.

‘The signs are good for this year as well. With a clear focus on product innovations and the global implementation of our Premium POS strategy, we are aiming to sell 400,000 coffee machines.”

The international success of the E line model series –responsible for the most successful product launch in Jura’s history when it was introduced in 2017 – continued unabated last year.

Jura also gained additional momentum from the S8. The product achieved the third victory in a row in the automatic coffee machine test conducted by the leading European technical inspection agency, following the success of the E8 in 2016 and the J6 in 2017. In the professional segment, the newly launched X8 has met with resounding approval around the globe.

This year, Jura will also be developing and updating its PR campaign with brand ambassador Roger Federer.
