NEW ZEALAND: Ten years ago the first-ever Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer was sold on October 31 1997 to consumer Dawn Brockwell at a store in Mosgiel, New Zealand. The salesman was watched by media as well as the Fisher & Paykel Range and Dishwashing division.
It was a highly anticipated event. Years of research and design into the unique dishwasher with draws culminated in that first sale and the benefits of the sale are still flowing to Dawn.
“I had an entire kitchen of Fisher & Paykel products and wanted to complete the kitchen with the DishDrawer,” said Dawn Brockwell. “I had seen the adverts on television and knew that Fisher & Paykel represented quality innovation.”
After 10 years, Dawn’s DishDrawer is reportedly still going strong in her daughter’s house after the company gave Dawn a newer model to celebrate one million DishDrawer sales.
Now Fisher & Paykel has announce its new generation DishDrawer — the 605 series in single and independent double drawer configurations. According to Fisher &Paykel the new DS 605 and DD 605 feature improved wash performance with nine wash programs, including eco options.
“At Fisher & Paykel our engineers are constantly working on ways to reduce water and energy consumption, and we are delighted with the improvements in our new range,” said Fisher & Paykel’s national marketing manager, Peter Russell.
The DD605 has an energy rating of 3 stars and WELS water rating of 3 stars, while the DS605 single drawer configuration has a WELS rating of 3.5 stars.
With independent drawers the DD605 can accommodate genuine half load options and on both double and single drawers, a new isolation seal for the motor has reduced noise and achieved an acoustic energy reduction of 70 per cent over the previous model.
Improved drying performance has been achieved with a faster drying fan and each drawer has a six place setting capacity with a flexible racking system that accommodates oversized dinner plates and long stemmed glasses.
The 605 series is available in iridium, stainless steel or integrated finishes.
