Panasonic has added two new washing machines to its line-up, featuring the manufacturer’s Econavi technology as well as a new ‘Stain Master’ technology that has been developed to remove common household stains.

Explaining the curiously named feature set in the company’s new VX Series machines was Panasonic Australia’s product marketing manager for small appliances and whitegoods, Prue O’Loan.

“Panasonic continues its focus on introducing smart technologies to make everyday tasks easier,” she said. “With the ‘Stain Master’ feature the machine does the hard work for you, using the optimum setting to best remove the stain, and the handy LCD screen means you never have to check the instruction manual.”

Users are able to choose from different treatments on the machine’s program to tackle 23 different stains, such as lipstick, coffee, juice, oil or wine. Once set, the “the machine automatically selects the optimum temperature, rotation power and soaking required”.

The two machines also offer Econavi technology to minimise water and energy use. The machine is capable of measuring how much clothing has been loaded before adjusting the water and energy use on a wash-by-wash basis. Similarly, a 3D sensor determines the number of drum rotations needed.

“Econavi technology takes the burden out of energy saving in the home,” O’Loan added. “Consumers can make savings of up to 50 per cent on power and 30 per cent on water while washing compared with a non-Econavi model.”

The VX Series Washing Machine is available in an 8-kilogram capacity (NA-148VX3, RRP $1,199) and a 10-kilogram capacity (NA-140VX3, RRP $1,499).
