Sunbeam was in fine form in Sydney last night, kicking off a national tour to promote its Christmas appliance range in unconventional style.

With the curiously-spelled title “Sunbeam on the Muv” (pronounced ‘move’), Sunbeam has transformed a 20-foot shipping container into a purpose-built appliance showcase, fitted out with product displays, information videos, remote-controlled awnings and even a kitchen sink.

The container will be trucked around the country, starting in Sydney before heading on to Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and then back to Sydney. At each stop, the brand will open the container up to retailers and consumers to learn about Sunbeam’s range of cooking, cooling, novelty and kitchen appliances.

According to Phil Avramis, Sunbeam’s NSW sales manager, the showcase is about creating a “nice, exciting atmosphere” for people to experience the products and learn all about the strengths of the Sunbeam brand.

“All the new products coming for Christmas are all here. It’s all compact, and we can put it in nice locations around the country, like this,” he said, referring to the sunny surrounds of Sydney Harbour.

Lisa Buscomb, Sunbeam’s product marketing manager for food prep agreed, saying that the display was “unique” and a great way to bring “a bit of wow factor” to the brand.

Sunbeam was showing off a range of products, which were spread out around the container at different experience zones. Alongside the newly-released Café Series Espresso machine (which was being demonstrated by Sunbeam's home economist, Libby Redmond) was the rest of the updated Café Series range, including Blender, Variable Temperature Kettle and Planetary Mixmaster.

Retailers also had a chance to get a first look at the new red Café Series collection, which is set to hit stores next week.

The red range of Sunbeam Café Series appliances were shown to retailers for the first time.

Retailers enjoyed the hospitality in Sunbeam's shipping container well into the evening.
