SYDNEY: Harvey Norman has won the Australian Electrical Retailing (ERA) Awards 2007 Retail Group of the Year award for the second year running, making up for missing out on the Retail Store of the Year Award, which was given to Retravision.
With competition from fellow finalists The Good Guys, Clive Peeters, Narta and of course Retravision, Harvey Norman won the award after over 100 industry suppliers from around the country voted them as the top retail organisation.
Recognised by its suppliers as offering educated and knowledgeable staff that create a substantial volume of sales through an ability to sell up, Harvey Norman stood out as the winner of the 2007 ERA.
“This retailer was described by several suppliers as being prepared for the future by having a strong technology offer and embracing early adopter and category killer approaches,” Appliance retailer and current.com.au managing editor, James Wells, said on the night.
“Due to its size, its buying and operational efficiencies were an advantage; but over and above this, highly trustworthy communications were the hallmark of Harvey Norman’s ability to create relationships in the marketplace with its key suppliers.
“Layout and design are first class, offering suppliers and consumers a consistent offer,” he said.
