In the Appliance Retailer newsletter on Friday 22 March, the news story titled Hisense brings in Australian-first 5.5 star refrigerator, stated that Hisense will be releasing Australia’s first 5.5 energy star rated refrigerator. This is not correct.
Liebherr introduced Australia’s first refrigerator with a 5.5 star energy rating in July 2018. The Liebherr CNef 4315 is listed on the industry regulator website to confirm this approved energy rating, and the Hisense Black Steel 453L Bottom Mount Refrigerator is yet to be listed with 5.5 stars.
Hisense Australia provided the following statement to Appliance Retailer:
“Hisense Australia confirms its Black Steel 453L Bottom Mount Refrigerator has Australia’s highest energy star rating, no other refrigerator has a higher energy star rating. It does not claim to be the first to be awarded this energy star rating.
“Hisense Australia works closely with local regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with its legal obligations. We can confirm that the appropriate information has been submitted to the Australian GEMS Regulator, with the product due on shelves later this month.”
