The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip foldable smartphone will be available for pre-order from Friday 20 March from Samsung Experience Centre and online, as well as selected partners including Optus, Vodafone, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman, with an on-sale date of Friday 3 April 2020.

Retailing for $2,199, Samsung claims that since its debut in San Francisco last month, the Galaxy Z Flip has already sold out in some markets due to high demand.

The Galaxy Z Flip features a 6.7-inch Infinity Flex Display with Samsung’s proprietary bendable Ultra-Thin Glass and freestop folding hinge that allows it to stay open at a range of angles like a laptop screen.

When closed, users can check the date, time and battery status on the cover display and receive real time notifications to answer calls without unfolding the device. With Multi-Active Window, users can seamlessly multi-task activities such as reading a news article on the top half, while online shopping on the bottom half.

“Not just because it is a mastery of design with clean, elegant lines but because the Galaxy Z Flip has been built with purpose – it doesn’t fold just for fun,” Samsung Electronics Australia vice president of IT and mobile, Garry McGregor said.

“We have harnessed the potential of this foldable category, creating new ways to connect whether it’s through video conferencing thanks to the freestop folding hinge and Flexmode or in experience via the Infinity Flex Display featuring Samsung’s Ultra-Thin Glass.

“The Galaxy Z Flip is a statement piece and we can’t wait to see what Australians do with it.”
