To enhance customer proposition.

Target has axed 80 jobs from head office due to a restructure, which aims to accelerate its business transformation and evolve its product offering.

“We are focusing more on the core categories that customers know and love Target for such as apparel, soft homewares and toys. Sadly this means that some roles within head office needed to be restructured to meet this challenge. These decisions have not been made lightly,” a Target spokesperson said.

“Target is working hard to ensure the best outcome for these team members and looking at possible redeployment to other parts of the business or within the Wesfarmers business.”

At a recent Strategy Briefing Day, Wesfarmers indicated weaker trading momentum for Target in 2HFY19 and the need for a stronger repositioning of its customer proposition. This includes inspiring customers to live better, elevated style and quality at an affordable price, ease of the customer journey and an accelerated digital focus.
