Brisbane Appliance Sales (BAS) was host to 50 guests from brands including Smeg, Liebherr, Asko, V-Zug, Neff, ILVE and Miele, among others, to celebrate its 30 year anniversary.

Beginning in mid-1989, BAS was an extension of Sydney based Tymblack Appliances, joining existing stores in Parramatta (NSW), Drummoyne (NSW) and Fyshwick (ACT).

Opening in Windsor, the business soon outgrew the location and relocated across the road to a larger freestanding building, until moving into brand new premises in 2007 at Newmarket (QLD).

At the time of opening, there were few stores selling European appliances in Brisbane with brands such as Blanco and Smeg in their infancy. The retailer began with two staff and grew to 12 staff, now with six full time staff, a commercial division and in-house marketing and social media.

BAS director, Judy Mayne said in a market awash with large multi-state appliance stores, BAS remains, and always will be, a sole trader, far from the influence of national decisions. “It is only with this ethic that Brisbane Appliance Sales remains unique. We love serving our clients and introducing them to new appliances, which significantly reflect the design, feel and environment of a home,” she said.

BAS head of marketing and advertising, Angie Mayne added, “I am very pleased the party went so well. I worked very hard to give Judy, Daniel and all our guests the party they deserved it. The cake was also the highlight of the night. Our consultant Crystal Harris made it and her cooking skills are amazing.”
