Judging kitchen projects.

Entries for the Smeg Tour competition, which recognises outstanding kitchen design, are now open. The prize includes return flights to Venice for the 2020 Venice Architecture Biennale and a coveted spot on the Smeg Tour.

In celebrating the best of local design talent, entrants must submit a kitchen project, new build or renovation completed between January 2018 and August 2019, featuring Smeg products to be in the running.

The 2020 jury consists of Smeg Tour winner Anita Panov (panovscott Architects), John Wardle (John Wardle Architects), David Karotkin (Carabiner) and Janet Holmes a Court (philanthropist and architecture supporter). The panel will be looking for innovative design and creative use of materials and the appliances.

The Smeg Tour begins at the exclusive Vernissage opening of the Biennale before a visit to Smeg’s headquarters in Guastalla. Guests will also experience other exclusive, architecturally significant places and spaces and enjoy the best of the region’s culture and food, courtesy of Smeg.

Isabelle Toland (Aileen Sage Architects) said, “The Smeg Tour was a memorable and invaluable experience – not only to see first-hand the care and attention to design, detail and manufacturing that goes into the Smeg products, but also their generosity in wanting to share their love of Italian food, the local produce, landscape and architecture. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to get to know a great and diverse group of other talented Australian designers.”
