Ahead of Costco, Big W and others.

Kmart and Target have achieved the highest customer satisfaction rating of 88.2% among discount department stores for the 12 months to May 2018, according to the latest report from Roy Morgan. It beat out competitors including Costco, Big W, Best & Less, Target Country and Harris Scarfe.

Myer and David Jones have a combined satisfaction rating currently of 85.9%, having fallen by 1.9% points over the last year, to now have a lower rating than the 87.3% for discount department stores.

Roy Morgan industry communications director, Norman Morris said like all retailers, discount department stores are facing increasing competition in a difficult market.

“They have many competitors, not only from other discount department stores but from Myer and David Jones, specialist retailers and online players such as Amazon. In this highly competitive environment, it is a positive outcome that discount department stores have been able to increase customer satisfaction.”
