Adding to AI capabilities.
Google Assistant is now available on the LG 2018 TV range in the US, with availability in the Australian market to arrive in the second half of the year. This includes both LG OLED and Super UHD TVs.
The Google partnership will enable added convenience to LG TVs and will combine with LG’s webOS based ThinQ artificial intelligence (AI). Users will be able to employ natural language commands to control TV functions, play content and control TV settings. Google Assistant will also help manage daily tasks, access information, control compatible devices, including lighting and appliances.
Users can also immediately connect to external gaming consoles and soundbars, switch picture mode or turn the TV off at set times.
Google Assistant works with more than 5,000 smart devices across hundreds of brands making it easier to control smart speakers and other devices connected via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
LG Home Entertainment president, Brian Kwon said, “With Google Assistant now available natively in 2018 LG AI TVs, I believe we are going to see a whole new level of AI adoption in the home. LG’s partnership with Google allows us to be the first TV brand to offer the Google Assistant on our own OS. We expect there to be many more exciting AI news to come from LG.”
