Sir James Dyson, founder of the engineering group Dyson, is suing the company’s former CEO, for an alleged series of breaches.
A statement to Appliance Retailer read: “The Dyson Board has decided to bring a claim against Max Conze at the High Court of Justice in London in relation to his actions while chief executive, including the disclosure of confidential information, and a breach of his fiduciary duties”.
The ex-CEO’s departure is understood to be linked to allegations he revealed confidential information, including the company’s plan to expand into the electric car market. In September, Dyson announced it was building an electric car using sold-state battery technology that will be launched by 2020.
Conze has denied the allegations and said Dyson was attempting to distract attention away from claims he is about to issue against the company. Conze, who was CEO for six years, was replaced in October by chief operating officer, Jim Rowan.
