Bing Lee announces major sport partnership

With Netball NSW.

Bing Lee has confirmed its first major sports sponsorship since 2010 with a four-year deal partnering with Netball NSW.

The sponsorship deal covers three main aspects – Premier Partner sponsorship of Netball NSW which spans the entire state organisation including grassroots clubs and emerging youth teams as well as specific sponsorships of two elite national sides – the NSW Swifts and one of the new teams to enter the competition in 2017 – Giants Netball – representing western Sydney.

Bing Lee CEO, Lionel Lee, said the deal was a great fit for the family-orientated business which over the next 12 months will celebrate its 60th anniversary as a New South Wales-centric retailer.
“2017 marks an exciting year both for Bing Lee and Netball NSW, and as a family-owned business we’re thrilled to join the NSW netball family.

“From our humble beginnings in the late 1950s, through to today, we have been committed to Sydney families and we’re looking forward to continuing that with Netball NSW over the next four years,” Lee said.

The sponsorship which commences in conjunction with the new Super Netball season in February 2017 is the first time that Bing Lee has signed a major sponsorship since 2010 when they completed a four year jersey sponsorship of the Sydney FC A-League football team.

According to Bing Lee general manager, Phil Moujaes, the benefits to the retailer extend to a broader audience than just the New South Wales market, as they are now selling products nationally through their online business.

“From our perspective, this sponsorship ticks all of the boxes. We can connect from a grassroots to elite level and with a four-year deal, we are in this for the long term. This is a significant investment from our perspective, but we also recognise the value for our brand and the business. Netball NSW has over 114,000 active members, 118 affiliated Netball associations and hundreds of clubs and we look forward to providing both physical and financial support to this sporting community to help grow and develop the game,” Moujaes said.

Netball NSW CEO Carolyn Campbell said the Bing Lee partnership represented compatible values between both organisations.

“Bing Lee’s story is one of hard work, dedication and resilience, qualities that Netball NSW prides itself on. They’re also a family owned business and that sense of family is something we can easily identify with.

“We are embarking on a significant new chapter in Australian netball history, and I’m excited that Bing Lee has shown their support and dedication to netball in NSW.”
