Ricoh Imaging Americas president Jim Malcolm (pictured) has been named president of the PhotoImaging Manufacturers and Distributors Association (PMDA). Malcolm has told US media that he will continue the association’s mission to promote and advance imaging while working with member organisations to help define the future of the imaging industry.

Malcolm succeeds Panasonic’s Dan Unger and has been a PMDA board member since 2013, In addition, Marc Cutler, manager of strategic marketing analytics at Nikon, and Matt DiMaria, CEO of Eye-fi, were also elected to the executive board as VPs.

They join Neal Manowitz of Sony Electronics and Michelle Fernandez of Canon USA as executive members.

As president of Ricoh Imaging Americas, Malcolm is responsible for guiding the company’s North American strategy for product, marketing, sales, operations and finance initiatives in support of Ricoh and Pentax brand cameras. Malcolm has spent the last 25 years in imaging technology executive positions. Malcolm also founded Aperture 360 Interactive, a web-based services company focused on 360-degree imaging.

“It is a great honour to serve as president of the PMDA, and to receive the support of my fellow board members and colleagues,” Malcolm said. “This is a time of great change for the photo-imaging industry as innovative technologies emerge and businesses evolve. The PMDA has remained a constant in our industry, supporting and encouraging the advancement of both the craft and the trade of photography since 1939.
