Forever New and Inspire Technology recall power banks over fire hazard

Forever New, a fashion retailer which sells a small range of mobile accessories and audio products, has recalled a portable power bank used to recharge devices as the batteries could overheat and cause a fire.

The Hollie Heart Power Bank (TE0635) was sold in Forever New stores and online from 6 October 2014 to 29 December 2014.

Consumers should stop using the product immediately and return it to a Forever New store for a full refund.

Juice Up power banks, supplied by Inspire Technology and sold in Big W stores between 4 October 2014 and 13 December 2014, were also recalled over the Christmas period because they too could start fires.

There is a risk that the back casing could fall off the colourful key ring power banks when dropped, exposing the internal wires and battery. Inconsistent, uncertified batteries have been found in the affected batches, the ACCC recall notice stated.

Consumers should immediately stop using the power bank and return the product to a Big W store for a full refund. For further information call 1300 730 833 or email info@inspiretech.com.au.
