While Samsung wagered poorly with its choice of brand ambassador and spokeswimmer, Acer has raced ahead, with its spokeshurdler Sally Pearson celebrating her win in the Women's 100 Metre Hurdles by using an Acer laptop – at least that's what UnderCurrent was told:

"Acer joins Australians around the country in congratulating Olympian Sally Pearson on her gold medal win. Sally was previously named as the Acer Australian brand ambassador for the London 2012 Summer Games and has been using Acer products on the road and in London," said the statement announcing her victory, which UnderCurrent received only 2,920 minutes after her victory.

Still, UnderCurrent isn't one to criticise such a magnificent performance, and considering how charismatic, talented and popular Pearson is, this sponsorship agreement looks to be a masterstroke.

"Acer is thrilled by the Gold Medal win by Sally Pearson", said Acer GM of marketing David Sunton. "Her race time was impressive, her determination admirable and we look forward to working with her as our brand ambassador to enhance consumers’ recognition of Acer’s products."

And here is a lovely Acer-supplied pic of Sally in what appears to UnderCurrent to be one of the worst Photoshop jobs of all time (UPDATE: Acer has contacted UnderCurrent to assure us this photo is not Photoshopped. UnderCurrent withdraws its mocking):

UnderCurrent congratulates Sally and Acer.
