Spectrum Brands to lose iRobot’s Roomba and Scooba distribution

By Patrick Avenell

Spectrum Brands' floorcare department has been reduced to just Russell Hobbs, with iRobot's brands of robotic vacuums, most famously Roomba and Scooba, moving to a new, as yet unknown, distribution model.

iRobot is a publicly listed diversified robotics company that designs products for a variety of purposes, one of which is floorcare.

Spectrum Brands has removed any reference to these brands from its website, while the Roomba.com.au website has been disabled. iRobot's American website still lists Salton as the Australian distributor, complete with a disconnected phone number. Salton was absorbed by Spectrum Brands following the global merger of Russell Hobbs Incorporated and Spectrum Brands in 2010.

Spectrum Brands remains the distributor of the Remington, George Foreman, Rayovac, Varta and Russell Hobbs brands.
