National retail The Good Guys has contacted Current.com.au with the following statement regarding its association, or lack thereof, with United Warranties:
"We have noted the commentary in today's [Current.com.au newsletter] under the headline 'United Warranties collapse leaves retailers and suppliers chasing millions'.
"The inference in the article is that in some way the national The Good Guys group is exposed to the collapsed warranty company through its warranty program.
“In fact, The Good Guys’ warranty program, ‘Horizon 5’, is in no way associated with United being underwritten by a major insurance group.
“The only exposure within the group to United is the amount on the ledger to which you refer in your article which, whilst accurately stated, is just a standard one-off debt owed on a trade account to one of our stores.”
