SYDNEY, NSW: Panasonic is exploring new product categories, with the Japanese supplier now heavily tipped to beginning marketing new ranges of products by the end of 2011.

Although Panasonic would not confirm the exact categories it was set to enter, the supplier did confirm it could soon begin offering Australian consumers a broader range of products.

“Panasonic is always exploring potential new opportunities in Australia and there are a couple of different product segments currently under consideration,” said a spokesperson.

“Globally, the company manufacturers a large range of products and some of these might be of interest to the local market. At the moment, Panasonic [is] speaking with Australian consumers and retailers about some of these products but do not have any specific announcements at this stage.”

In Japan, Panasonic markets a much more diverse range of products than in Australia, where its business is mainly focused around home entertainment and digital imaging. Overseas products include refrigerators, mobile phone handsets, small appliances and dishwashers.
