SYDNEY, NSW: Nintendo will unveil the new 3DS handheld gaming console to Australian media and, presumably, its retail partners, on Tuesday 8 February 2011, ahead of its launch sometime in March 2011. Nintendo Australia did not reveal any further information about the local launch, except for these details.

It has previously been announced that this console, the first to offer 3D gaming without the need for glasses, will be released in Europe on 25 February 2011, Japan one day later (though essentially the same day based on time zone changes) and North America on 27 February 2011.

In Japan, the 3DS will cost ¥25,000 (AU$305). The US recommended pricing is US$250 (AU$251). It has been predicted that the local cost for the 3DS will be more than the higher of these two exchanges.
