SYDNEY, NSW: The AFL Grand Final is on tomorrow (Saturday 25 September 2010) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Collingwood is looking for its 15th Premiership Flag overall, and its first since 1990. Opponents St Kilda is aiming to lift the Trophy for the second time, with the first coming in 1966. Retailer should take note of how this game might affect them.

Firstly, the game is set to commence at 2:30pm in Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland and Tasmania. In South Australia and the Northern Territory, the game will commence at 2pm, whilst it will start at 12:30pm in Western Australia.

For retailers who wish to show the match live on the panels in their store, it is being broadcast on Channel 7, 7mate. The game will be shown in 3D on digital channel 40, depending on coverage in your area.

Due to the high levels of interest in this match (in all states except New South Wales and Queensland), retailers may wish to either keep less staff on during the day or, to attract people to the store, establish 3D viewing areas should the broadcast be available.

In the event that the 3D broadcast is deemed a success, retailers should prepare for increased interest in the technology in the week leading up to the NRL Grand Final, which will also be broadcast in 3D, especially in the rugby league states.

Patrick’s Tip: St Kilda by 1 point.
