SYDNEY, NSW: Woolworths has announced the resignation of non-executive director Alison Watkins, who is leaving to take up the role of chief executive officer at GrainCorp.

Watkins joined the retail group’s board in 2007 and played a significant role in the company’s growth and diversification during her tenure, according to Woolworths chairman, James Strong.

“She has displayed a keen interest in all aspects of the company and has been a strong contributor to the board and its committees, including chairing the Audit Risk Management and Compliance Committee.”

Watkins’ resignation is effective from 31 July 2010.
