Gen Y folk, the socially active and hip mums are being invited to compete in LG’s 2010 texting championship. The competition that offers rare exercise to today’s overweight youth is back, with LG offering the fastest exponents of the most impersonal form of communication an overseas trip and a share in US$100,000 cash.
LG ran its inaugural texting competition last year, and the final, which was attended by Current.com.au at MTV Studios in East Sydney, was an amusing spectacle. The winner that night was Jian Li, who is officially the third fastest texter in the world.
The 2010 event will start with heats held at Westfield Shopping Centres. Contestants must use a full QWERTY keyboard on one of several LG mobile phone handsets.
