According to the company’s latest business results, Nespresso has achieved solid sales on a global basis. In terms of the local market, Nespresso Australia has continued to perform well.

Nespresso delivered global sales of more than 2.77 billion Swiss Francs ($2.84 billion AUD) and achieved 22 per cent sales growth throughout 2009.

According to Renaud Tinel, general manager for Nespresso Australia and Oceania, the company has recorded strong average growth since 2000. Nespresso is currently one of the fastest growing brands in the Nestle Group. Tinel reported that it is on track to finish 2010 with 30 per cent average sales growth and in excess of three billion Swiss Francs in sales.

There are more than 190 Nespresso boutiques worldwide and over 7 million Nespresso Club members. Tinel said this global expansion was also evident in Australia with the launch of its brand new standalone boutique in Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney.

Tinel was very pleased with the progress of the Nespresso brand in the local market.

“In the context of the economic downturn, the hallmarks of the Nespresso brand – the trilogy of the highest quality coffee expertise, distinctive machine design and the global community built on exclusive customer services and direct consumer relationships – have again proven to be our growth engine,” said Tinel.

The Australian side of the business recorded an 80 per cent growth for the period. Tinel said that this makes Australia one of the fastest growing markets for the Nespresso brand.
