SYDNEY, NSW: A hair dryer sold through Woolworths and Safeway stores has been recalled amid fears the unit poses a risk of fire and electric shocks.

Called the Woolworths Essential Travel Hair Dryer, model number 1204, the unit was nationally sold at Woolworths and Safeway supermarkets between September 2009 and December 2009.

According to the ACCC, the major hazard of this unit is its “potential [for] electrical shock and/or fire”, which is caused by a “faulty electrical switch within the handle”.

Consumers are advised to cease using the hairdryer immediately and return the model to either a Woolworths or Safeway store for a full refund.
