Hagemeyer Brands Australia has issued a voluntary safety recall on its Eurolux branded wall-mounted strip heaters due to a risk of electric shock and fire.
According to the recall document, the products can be identified by the brand name Eurolux marked on the top right hand corner of the unit and have model numbers SH1200A 2-bar (1200W) or SH1500A 3-bar (1500W).
The models were sold nationally by most major electrical retailers and wholesalers since April 2008.
The reason for the recall is that Hagemeyer has received reports of a component fault within the unit which can cause overheating of the rear plastic bracket. This overheating can lead to the heaters falling off the mounting bracket, resulting in a potential risk of electric shock and/or fire.
Hagemeyer is urging customers to immediately stop using the product and disconnect the unit from the power source. To arrange for a replacement or refund customers can visit www.euroluxheating.com.au/recall or call the toll-free number on 1800 224 026.
