Navigon launches two Harvey Norman exclusives

By Patrick Avenell

SYDNEY, NSW: Navigon has launched two new GPS devices exclusively through Harvey Norman. The supplier, which claims to be the fastest growing in Germany, has been operating for almost 20 years, but is only now making a major push into the Australian retail space.

The two new models are the Navigon 6300 and the Navigon 1400. The 6300 model features a 4.3-inch touchscreen, MyRoutes planning, reality view, pedestrian navigation, 3D panorama view, 3D landmark view, traffic information and spoken street names.

The 1400 features a 3.5-inch touchscreen, MyRoutes, spoken street names, speed assistant, safety alerts and speed assistant.

At the launch event, Navigon country manager, Australia, Daniel Antonello explained that MyRoutes was an intuitive route planning device that learnt over time how drivers prefer to plan their journeys. It can deduce whether drivers prefer freeways or scenic routes, major arteries or shortcuts, avoiding certain areas or just the simplest or most direct routes.

These two new models will only be available at release through Harvey Norman. Antonello said arrangement was made in order to simply launch distribution, and to gain traction in the marketplace. He said that in time, he was looking to expand Navigon’s distribution to a wider variety of retailers.

Also launched yesterday was a range of Navigon GPS device accessories, including travel packs, carry cases, home chargers, design mounts and design chargers.

The Navigon 6300 is RRP $499, and the 1400 is RRP $229.
