The ACCC has revised its initial product recall statement in regards to TV stands from Samsung. The initial statement claimed the product may cause large screen TVs to topple over and injure small children, this has now been removed.

The original statement from the ACCC quoted that cracks around the location of several screws on the unit may cause televisions to topple over and cause ‘injury or death if the television falls on a small child’.

This has now been removed and the current risk posed to consumers is stated as ‘could cause potential instability of some televisions on their stands’.

Samsung sent a statement to Current.com.au on Friday regarding this issue and outlined that it is proactively resolving the issue and is currently contacting customers to check and replace their products and ensure that all products are secure.

In addition to this, retailers who stock the affected models are being contacted to organise a replacement and Samsung is working closely with them to track down any remaining customers.

The affected model numbers are LA55B650T1FXXY, UA55B6000VFXXY and UA55B7100WFXXY.
