As sponsors of the ICC Women’s World Cup, LG Electronics has thrown its support behind the McGrath Foundation with a donation of $10,000 to the charity.

LG agreed to donate $125 for every 4 scored and $250 for every 6 scored at the World Cup match between Australia and England, LG ended up contributing a total of $10,000.

LG’s Global Partner sponsorship of the Women’s World Cup is part of a global sponsorship deal for all ICC events for the next seven years.

As well as its support for women’s health, LG is also working with Cricket Australia to help find Australia’s future cricket stars.

David Brand, marketing director at LG Electronics Australia, commented “LG will be donating five LG TVs plus cricket coaching clinics, conducted by Cricket NSW, to the five winning schools in a series of school day competitions which have been taking place at selected World Cup games”.

Brand showed a lot of enthusiasm towards the initiatives and was glad to raise awareness about the relevant charities.

“We are delighted to be supporting both women’s health and local school children with their quest to become the future sport stars of Australia,” he said.

“With our sponsorship of the ICC Women’s World Cup, we hope to also raise awareness of women’s cricket to a wider audience and associate our brand with a world-class event.”

Tracy Bevan, director of the McGrath Foundation, applauded LG for its support commitment to the charity.

“I’d like to thank LG for their generous support. The money will go a long way towards helping our McGrath Breast Care Nurses throughout rural and regional Australia, as well as increasing breast awareness in younger women,” she said.

“Our volunteers were selling pink wristbands and collecting money throughout the day and, together with LG’s donation, we are delighted that the event raised in excess of $13,000.”
