SYDNEY: Sony Australia has this morning announced that former FIFA World Player of the Year and property of Jesus, Kaka, is to star in the brand’s latest global commercial for its Motionflow 200Hz products.

Although Kaka is more used to playing UEFA Cup football with ‘Becksmania’ and countryman Ronaldinho for Milan, he took time out of his busy San Siro schedule to let Sony shoot some of his moves for the latest campaign. It’s a win for Sony’s Australian arm because the advertisement is set to make its worldwide debut in Australia on Sunday 22 February.

“The full effect of Motionflow 200Hz is best demonstrated using fast motion, which is why Sony’s BRAVIA 2009 campaign utilises the fast-paced action of the world’s most popular game, football,” said Sony Australia head of strategy and brand development, Toby Barbour. “This campaign also celebrates Sony’s strong global and local partnerships with both FIFA and the Football Federation of Australia as Official Consumer Electronics Partner.

“We are truly thrilled to be the first country in the world to air this ad — it reinforces Australia’s position as a sports-mad nation and leader in high definition TV.”

Unfortunately, Kaka was not available to comment this morning, but here are some quotations from the Brasilia lad after his country was eliminated by France in the 2006 World Cup quarterfinals.

“The World Cup was a huge frustration for me because I had prepared really hard for it. But in the World Cup there is no formula, no recipe for success.”

Sony will be hoping that in the World Cup of TV selling, Kaka has such a recipe.
