LG Electronics partnered up with Bing Lee last weekend to sponsor the 2009 NSW Women’s Golf Open, the only international women’s golfing tournament to take place in NSW over the summer.

The event was held at the Oatlands Golf Club in Sydney’s north-west from the 23rd to the 25th January 2009, and it attracted some of the world’s top female golfers who competed for the $125,000 in total prize money on offer.

Sarah Oh was the overall winner with the Australian number two player, Katherine Hull the runner up.

LG Electronics has now been sponsoring this event for three consecutive years and was honoured to co-sponsor this year with retail partner Bing Lee.

Mr Soon Kwon, Managing Director of LG Electronics Australia said “partnering with Bing Lee to promote the development of women’s golf in Australia was a great opportunity. LG’s established relationship with the late Ken Lee was one of admiration, and our love for the game of golf is mutual.”

As part of LG’s involvement, the company donated a 42 inch LG plasma television which was auctioned to raise money for Ken Lee’s nominated charity, the Victor Chang Foundation. The event rose over $5,000 for the charity.

Frances Crampton, CEO of Women’s Golf New South Wales notes, “I’d like to thank LG, Bing Lee and the NSW Major Events Board for their continued support of Women’s Golf. We are excited at the success of this year’s tournament which saw so much new talent in the women’s game. We look forward to next year’s event and LG and Bing Lee’s continued support.”

The event attracted over 5,500 people to Oatlands Golf Course, which means the sponsorship proved a great incentive for both LG and Bing Lee.
