LG Electronics has today announced the release of the KC910, known around the world as the LG Renoir. The Korean supplier claims the phone is Australia’s first full touchscreen 8-megapixel multimedia phone.

Talking about this release is LG marketing manager of mobile communications, Carli Wilson.

“Renoir is much more than a camera phone. It provides experiences through sight, sound and touch, combining a unique array of features including a full 3.0-inch touchscreen interface, Dolby Mobile for Music and built-in support for Wi-Fi and A-GPS.

“The name Renoir conveys the phone’s personality and level of multimedia sophistication. Like its namesake painter, who created an entirely new style of painting with impressionism, we believe we have created something unique with our new Renoir handset,” said Wilson.

Image capture features of the Renoir include the aforementioned 8-megapixel camera, Xenon flash, ISO up to 1,600, touch shot, geo-tagging and detection features.

Multimedia features include Dolby Mobile for music, slow and fast motion video recording, DivX playback, A-GPS, Jogging Buddy, 3G HSDPA up to 7.2 megabytes per second, Wi-Fi and a noise free microphone.

The LG Renoir (KC910) is available now for RRP $799, or on contract with Optus, Vodafone and 3 Mobile.

Although Renoir (1841-1919) was at the vanguard of the Impressionist movement, it could be more accurately argued that Eugene Delocroix was the founding father of the movement, and that Gerome and Cabanel were the first artists to widely exhibit impressionist works.

He has for some time been this journalist’s favourite painter.
